Plan ahead with a Lasting Power of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney, or LPA, is a document that lets you give one or more people authority to make decisions on your behalf. It is one of the most important things you can put in place, because none of us knows what is around the corner.

Capacity can be lost at any age, through accident, illness, stroke, dementia or other causes. An LPA means the people you choose can act for you, rather than leaving your family to apply to court later.

Where someone has already lost capacity and has no LPA in place, the Court of Protection can appoint a Deputy to make decisions for them. We can help you apply to become a Deputy if you are their spouse, partner, child, close relative or close friend, and assist with specific applications such as the sale of property or preparing a Statutory Will.
