Court of Protection

The Court of Protection exists to protect the property and welfare interests of vulnerable people or those with a mental disability. If a person becomes mentally incapable, the Court of Protection will become involved where that person has previously prepared a Lasting Power of Attorney (or Enduring Power of Attorney before 1st October 2007) or in the absence of either of these documents by the appointment of a Deputy to manage their affairs.

At Salehs, we can assist you in the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney, registration of existing Enduring Powers of Attorney, or an application for the appointment of a Deputy where the person becomes mentally incapable without having previously set up either of these documents.

As people are living longer, it has become increasingly important to plan for what might be an uncertain future, and the preparation of a Lasting Power of Attorney will ensure that a person or persons of your choice are responsible for making decisions over your affairs that you may be unable to make in the future.
